My new league structure idea

Idea for restructuring.
16 Teams in Premier - 30 games a season
16 Teams in First division - 30 games a season
10 teams in Second division - 36 games a season

My new idea consists of
a) 16 team premier, b) 2 new European trophies with other countries, c) plus a North Britain cup for teams who do not reach these two new trophies d) Making the league cup a two legged tournament in round 1 and round 2. So that more games can be played by teams who do not qualify for Europe.
Now my two new European trophies do not take away from Scotland and the other 3 countries taking part in the European cup and European cup these are extra trophies to play in.

1. Make a 16 team league - Playing 30 times a year.
Second division 16 teams 30 games a year.
Third division 10 teams. 36 times a year.

2. Western European Cup
So the big clubs can get more games against big sides have another European trophy with sides from Scotland, Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal, for the top 4 sides in the league from each country.
4 groups of four.
Top two teams qualify for single leg, quarter final. Top teams in each group get home advantage.
Semi final one leg match, decided by home team decided by random.
Final at a neutral venue, in one of the four countries.
This would enable the old firm and other Scottish sides to play sides like Porto, Sporting Lisbon, Ajax, PSV Etc:.
Group stage 6 matches
Quarter final one match
Semi final One match
Final One match
total 9 matches.
There would be one Dutch team, on Scottish side, one Belgian side and Portugal side in each group.

3. Western European Cup Second Division - A second trophy with these same nations for the next four best nations from each country. In a straight two legged knockout trophy.
This would be the next level of sides from these countries such as Standard Liege,
Mechelen, FC Utrecht etc. This would be enough to get good crowds and a high standard of opposition.
With 16 teams this would be
Group stage of a 4 teams all from own country.
Top teams of each group qualify
Semi final Final 2 legs
Final two legs
Total 10 games at most.

For the sides who do not qualify for these trophies.

4. A North Britain cup played between the teams in the first division, and the teams in the premier who are not in either of the western European shield trophies.
That is 24 sides.
In the first round, the teams play in 8 groups of 3, in a round robin trophy of groups of 3 one game at home, one game away.
The top sides in the 8 groups go through. to the quarter final.
The quarter final is two leg.
This is followed by a semi-final and final of two legs each.
The final is a two leg final.
This equals
Group stage two matches
Quarter final Two matches
Semi final Two matches
Final Two matches
Total 8 matches.

Advantages of this idea.
A. More teams get to play old firm
B Old firm get to play more big sides rather than eachother each year but other Scottish sides also get this opportunity.
C. More Scottish sides get experience of European football. Plus against good high quality Western European sides, that are easy to get to.
D The North Britain cup provides another opportunity for sides not in this trophy to play some extra games.

If the Dutch, Belgians, and Portuguese do not want to take part invite some other European countries. I do not accept UEFA would have an issue with these trophies as there would only be 9 games in the European trophies and it would not be as major threat to the UEFA major trophies with only small nations taking part. Just as they did not stop the royal league or Anglo Scottish cups.

This idea could enable a team to challenge the old firm. Imagine Hearts or Hibs being drawn in one of these groups they could make a few million and challenge the old firm.
The Portuguese play in an 30 game season, and it does them no harm.

The UEFA authorities do not stop the royal league or the CIS cup (a trophy in the former soviet union).
Plan B
After creating this league set up, we might find the other leagues do not want to take part in the multi national trophy ideas. There are back up plans.
We could include a European competition with one or two nations, as long as the top 4 and next top 4 can compete in these trophies. A trophy with the Dutch on their own would be good enough. If the idea did not take off we could just make the league cup a group stage trophy from the Third round stage. So top teams can play other sides in group matches. Such as 4 groups of 4 with the top 8 teams going through to the quartet finals. This would only be a back up plan in case no other European league was prepared to have a European trophy with the Scottish league.

Old firm are English premier level, not championship level

I am fed up with the logical fallacy where people talk about the old firm being the quality of the English second division. Loads of people claim Celtic and Rangers are not English premier level sides, simply because they play in a league where most of the other teams are not of that level.
In logic and rhetoric, a fallacy is a misconception resulting from incorrect reasoning in argumentation.
This logic of some football fans is based on two logical fallacies.
1 / The logic is that as most of the teams in the SPL are not English premier this means all the teams in the SPL are not English premier. Under that logic. Every team in the Spanish league is only as good and no worse than the team in mid table. You are defining how good the old firm are on the basis of how good the average team in the SPL is. It is as illogical as me deciding your level of intelligence or height, based on the average iq or height, of your town rather than your IQ or height.
This is called the
Fallacy of the undistributed middle
The whole reason Celtic and Rangers run away with the SPL each year. Is because although the SPL is made up of mostly sides of the quality of the English championship and league one Celtic and Rangers of English premier sides. If they were just the quality of league on and championship teams they would be in mid table of the SPL.

This is the biggest way to make it easy for people to understand this point is.
If Celtic and Rangers are just championship level sides why dot they run away with the SPL every year.? Do you not realize the entire reason Celtic and Rangers run away with league is because the league is made up of mostly sides of the level of league one and the

Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings (often abbreviated as CSK) is a franchise cricket team based in Chennai who play in the Indian Premier League.

Chennai, is the capital city of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Chennai is the fourth most populous metropolitan area and the fifth most populous city in India. Located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal, Chennai city had a population of 4.34 million administered by the Corporation of Chennai. The urban agglomeration of metropolitan Chennai has an estimated population over 8.2 million people.

Though the city itself was established only in the 17th century by the British, some parts of the city like Triplicane and its outskirts are almost 2000 years old. The British on settling developed it into a major urban centre and naval base. By the 20th century, it had become an important administrative centre, as the capital of the Madras Presidency.

Chennai is an important center for Carnatic Music and hosts a large cultural event, the annual Madras Music Season, which includes performances by hundreds of artists. The city has a vibrant theatre scene and is an important centre for the Bharatanatyam, a classical dance form. The Tamil film industry, one of the largest film industries in India, is based in the city; the soundtracks of the films dominate its music scene.

Chennai is on the southeast coast of India in the northeast of Tamil Nadu on a flat coastal plain known as the Eastern Coastal Plains. Its average elevation is around 6.7 metres (22 ft), and its highest point is 60 m (200 ft). The Marina Beach runs for 12 km along the shoreline of the city. Two rivers meander through Chennai, the Cooum River through the centre and the Adyar River to the south. A third river, the Kortalaiyar, flows through the northern fringes of the city before draining into the sea at Ennore. Adyar and Cooum rivers are heavily polluted with effluents and waste from domestic and commercial sources. The state government periodically removes silt and pollution from the Adyar river, which is much less polluted than the Cooum. A protected estuary on the Adyar forms a natural habitat for several species of birds and animals. The Buckingham Canal, 4 km inland, runs parallel to the coast, linking the two rivers. The Otteri Nullah, an east-west stream, runs through north Chennai and meets the Buckingham Canal at Basin Bridge.

UEFA do not stand in the way of Multi national trophies

Whenever I put forward a new idea about a multi national trophy for Scottish sides. I am always told by people UEFA would not allow it. Well I do not accept that point.
UEFA only want to prevent major nations forming a European league they are not concerned with small or medium sized tournaments between small or medium sized nations.

Evidence for this;
UEFA did not stop the Royal league, the Commonwealth of Independent States Cup, the Baltic League, the Sentana cup.
They did not care about these trophies as it was not a real threat to the European cup or the Europa cup.

Examples
The Baltic League is a Baltic football club tournament, launched in 2007 inspired by the Scandinavian tournament Royal League and by the Baltic Basketball League. Top four club sides from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania take part in the competition. Winners and Runners-up from each group advance to the quarterfinals of the competition. Starting from 2009–10, the competition will be expanded to 16 teams, with five sides from every Baltic state taking part. One additional slot will be allocated to the sixth best team from the country of the previous winner.
The Setanta Sports Cup, commonly known as just the Setanta Cup, is a club football competition featuring teams from both football associations on the island of Ireland. It was inaugurated in 2005 as a cross-border competition between clubs from the League of Ireland from the Republic of Ireland and the Irish League from Northern Ireland.

The Channel One Cup is an annual pre season commerce football tournament, organized by Russian TV Channel One and Roman Abramovich's foundation, the National Football Academy. The participants are champions and runners up of Russia, Ukraine and Israel. The total prize fund is about 2 million dollars, with the winner getting 1 million. The cup rules specify that at least half of prize money must be channeled into developing young players.

The Royal League was an annual Scandinavian football tournament held three times between teams from the three Scandinavian monarchies (Denmark, Sweden, and Norway), starting after the end of the regular domestic seasons of Norway and Sweden. Denmark, however, are in mid-season when the tournament starts. The four best-placed teams in the football leagues of Denmark, Norway and Sweden participate in the tournament. There has been discussion of expanding the league, and include, the winners of Veikkausliiga and Landsbankadeild, which is the Finnish and the Icelandic premier division. The 2007-2008 edition was cancelled for financial reasons, but the board planned to resurrect the tournament for the 2008-2009 season. On 11 October 2008 it was announced that the 2008-09 season would not be held either, as the TV rights for the tournament had not been sold. There is however plans for a tournament in 2010, but under a new name; Royal Cup. These plans do also involve getting three more clubs participate in the tournament, making the total number of participating clubs fifteen.

Livonia Cup is a football trophy contested in an annual match in Riga, between the champions of the Estonian and Latvian domestic association football leagues. The current holders of the Livonia Cup are FK Ventspils, who beat FC Levadia.

The West European Cup

The West European Cup
Here is another idea
Invite the top four sides from Holland, Scotland, Belgium and Portugal to play in a new cup tournament.
Group stage
The first round is a group stage tournament. 4 groups of 4.
The top two qualify for the single match knockout stages.
Quarter Final Top sides in each group get home advantage.
Semi Final - One leg home team decided by luck of draw
Final - Neutral venue in one of the four nations.

Another option could be
Other nations to be invited could be Austria, Holland, Scotland, Belgium and Portugal, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway.

Each country providing 4 teams too create 40 teams.
These could play in ten groups of four.
With the top sides of each group and the best 6 runners up playing in a 16 team knockout tournament of four rounds. This leads to a maximum of 10 matches for the teams that reach the final.

1982 Scottish Cup Final

1982 Scottish Cup Final

Hibernian Caledonia cup

How about a cup between the top 8 sides of the Scottish league who did not qualify for Europe and the top 4 sides of the Irish and league of Ireland leagues.
The trophy could be played just before the season starts to the time of the 1st round og the Europea cuop. At present sides outside of the old firm have barely done anything for the last 10 years.
I think a reason for this is that Scottish sides are not used to European football experience.
Most Scottish sides outside the old firm go about 3 or more years in a row without qualifying for European football, they then get one shot, then by the time they are back there again they have different players and managers.
We should just have another trophy to play to give Scottish sides outside of European football more experience, year to year for the big trophies. Also many teams are not used to fixture congestion this would enable them to plan for such an event. So it would be no real issue going into Europe with a new European campaign as teams would be used to it.
WE NEED TO GET TEAMS USED TO PLAYING MORE GAMES AT THE START OF THE SEASON AND PLAYING IN EUROPE.

The format would be 16 teams
8 from Scotland 4 from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Meaning 16 teams
16 teams First round Two
8 Quarter Final one leg
4 Semi Final one leg
2 Final at Scotland or Ireland neutral stadium

North Britain Cup

How about Scottish football hold a North British cup? All our national cups are called the Scottish cup etc: Scottish challenge cup etc:
What about a different names such as the North Britain cup. A pre season trophy played between Scottish premier sides who did not get into Europe. Or a six aside trophy or something.
Try some different names.
We do not seem to exploit Scotland being part of the island of Great Britain. Thaty way we can have a different range of trophy names.

France - English cup

France - English cup
How about a France England football cup between teams in ligue 2 and the championship of England. It would be a fun trophy. I think Scottish sides should play Danish or Norwegian sides in a similar trophy.

Ligue 2 is the second division of French football. It is one of two divisions making up the LFP, the other being Ligue 1, which is France's top division. The 20 clubs that make up Ligue 2 play each other twice during the season, creating a 38-match schedule. At the end of the season, the top three clubs are promoted to Ligue 1 for the following season, while the bottom three clubs of Ligue 1 are relegated to Ligue 2. The bottom three teams of Ligue 2 are relegated to Championnat National.

Have a preliminary round to get to 16 teams from each nation. That creating 32 sides. Then have a knockout trophy from the remaining teams. The final played in Wembley and Stade De France interchangeably.

Scottish - Danish Football cup

I think it is important Scottish football has another cross border competition so that their clubs can get more experience of playing teams from other countries. In the last 10 years, of sides outside the old firm, only Aberdeen and Hearts have gotten past round 1 once in Eurpoean football. That was once each. That is an abysmal performance. The reason for this is party that Scotland is a small country. But another reason is surely lack of experience. Most Scottish clubs will have one year in Europe then go 3- maybe even 10 years without being in Europe again. How is that supposed to build up experienced sides and management teams, and playing structures, with a rich experience of European football to draw on. How can they learn how to cope with playing teams outside their own nation, in matches early in the season?
What we need is another competition for sides in the SPL that have not qualified for Europe. So that it is not a big step to go and play in the major European competitions if they play in smaller European trophies each and every year.
A trophy between 8 SPL (and one or two SFL sides to make up the numbers) with the 8 Danish premier league sides who did not reach the Europa cup and champions league would give a good quality of sides with good stadiums and support for Scottish sides to play.
I think games against Danish sides would attract crowds as it is something different to the usual fare.
16 teams would mean 4 rounds. I would have the first leg as two legs. Every team would pay a foreign side in the first round. So every team has a home game. Followed by the Quarter final and semi final being one match with the luck of the draw deciding who is at home. Followed by a two legged final.
16 (two legs) , 8 (1 match) , 4 (1 match), 2 (two legs). This would equal 6 matches at most.
Before anyone says this would lead to fixture congestion, well Motherwell had 3 rounds of European football at the start of this year and it did not cause them to collapse in anyway.
I would start the torunament before the season starts as the early rounds of the Europea cup do. So teams get used used to such apparent difficulties. Then finish the tournment before the group stages of the Europa cup have started.
This way every Scottish club would get used to playing some European matches early in the season. Every Scottish club would learn how to cope with travel to another country, coping with playing some European games before the league season has started.
We could have the trophy against the Danish or we could have Norwegian - Scottish cup or a Swedish - Scottish cup. Any small nation in the region.
I am not pretending for a second this would get the crowds of playing AC Milan, Lyon. But I am sure it would get higher crowds than the league does, that would cover travel expenses.

English Premier is a cartel that shoulld be reduced

English Premier is a cartel that should be reduced.
The way how the amount of money football players earn can be cut is simply by putting other major sports leagues on TV. So that way we can shows leagues like the NFL, NHL, Serie A, La Liga, French league, Aussie rules football, Australian rugby league, the Indian Premier Cricket League and all the other major leagues.
If we put these leagues on mainstream terrestrial tv channel;s people would watch them. This would then reduce the likelihood that the English premier league could demand such high tv rights.
I like football but there is too much money in the game it attracts dangerous billionaires form all sort of areas to the game for the money. With too much money in the game it also prevents small sides doing anything.

The Empire Exhibition Trophy

The Empire Exhibition Trophy was a football competition held in 1938 in conjunction with the Empire Exhibition, Scotland 1938 in Glasgow. It was held to commemorate the Exhibition, then underway in Bellahouston Park, and the prize was a solid silver model of the Tait Tower.

Four teams from Scotland and four from England contested the straight knock out competition. Celtic defeated Everton 1–0 in the final, on 10 June 1938, with a goal from Johnny Crum in extra time. The final was watched by a crowd of over 82,000 at Ibrox Park. This tournament, like the Coronation Cup, was held in very high regard at the time as it gave teams the opportunity to test themselves against teams from other leagues in the days before European football.

Ramsey is a town in the north of the Isle of Man. It is the second largest town on the island after Douglas. It has one of the biggest harbours on the island, and has a prominent derelict pier, called the Queen's Pier. It was formerly one of the main points of communication with Scotland. Ramsey is also known as 'Royal Ramsey' due to royal visits from Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1847 followed by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in 1907.

The Albert Tower was built to commemorate the royal visit of Prince Albert on the 20th of September, 1847. Prince Albert climbed to the top of the hill where he viewed the surrounding town of Ramsey and the northern plain. The hill was renamed Albert Mount and a year later the tower's foundation was laid. The tower is made of granite and rises 45 feet (14 m) high, and stands as a landmark not only for the town of Ramsey, but also for the Isle of Man.

triskelion

For centuries, the island's symbol has been its ancient triskelion, a device similar to Sicily's Trinacria: three bent legs, each with a spur, joined at the thigh. The Manx triskelion does not appear to have an official design; government publications, currency, flags, the tourist authority and others all use different variants. Most, but not all, preserve rotational symmetry, some running clockwise, others anti-clockwise. Some have the uppermost thigh at 12:00, others at 11:30 or 10:00, etc. Some have the knee bent at 90°, some at 60°, some at closer to 120°. Also the degree of ornamentation of the leg wear and spur varies considerably.

Culture

The culture of the Isle of Man is influenced by its Celtic and to a lesser extent its Norse origins, though its close proximity to the UK, period as a UK tourist destination and recent mass immigration by British migrant workers has meant that British influence has been dominant since the Revestment period. Recent revival campaigns have attempted to preserve the surviving vestiges of Manx culture after a long period of Anglicisation, and significant interest in the Manx language, history and musical tradition has been the result.

As well as the main island of Mann itself, the Isle of Man includes some nearby small islands: the seasonally inhabited Calf of Man; Chicken Rock on which stands an unmanned lighthouse; and St Patrick's Isle and St Michael's Isle, both connected to the mainland by permanent roads/causeways.

Mann is located in the middle of the northern Irish Sea, approximately equidistant from the islands of Britain and Ireland. In the context of Britain, the island lies closest to Scotland followed by England and then Wales.

The Isle is 52 kilometres long and 22 kilometres wide at its widest point. It has an area of around 572 square kilometres.
